Whiskey Family Band

Jason Beard is a co-founder and songwriter for Northern California’s jamgrass favorites Poor Man’s Whiskey. With the Whiskey Family Band Jason teams up with various singer/songwriters (as well as PMW members past and present) for an eclectic exploration of musical styles ranging fromcountry/americana to psychedelic blues, jam, bluegrass, and more. An emphasis is on original songwriting but the band also enjoys paying homage to their influences withsome fun and ever changing covers (in the styles of Poor Man’s Whiskey, Allman Brothers,Pink Floyd, Phish, Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, etc.). JIMBO SCOTT STRING TRIO: A favorite in the Bay Area’s esteemed house concert scene and folk venues, and a member of the famed California jamgrass band, Poor Man’s Whiskey, Jimbo Scott’s music evokes traditions of Tennessee country and bluegrass, Oakland soul and sepia toned California landscapes and life-scapes.  Described by Tahoe Weekly as “Honest Honey-Eyed Americana”, Jimbo’s music casts reflections around the room, flashing from honest self-deprecation to cinematic retrospectives on our part in shaping our communities and accounting the consequences of our actions and inactions.  His signature baritone voice has moved many an audience including the Kate Wolf Music Festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and the halls of the Fillmore Auditorium. With the Jimbo Scott String Trio, Jimbo’s songs come to life flanked by the powerful fiddle playing of Ben Andrews (The Stone Foxes, Poor Man’s Whiskey) and an upright bass.   With arrangements that range from chamber folk to old time, stomp and holler string band stylings, this trio can move and audience from joy to tears and back to exultation.
