Mario Aparicio is a Bay Area drummer, percussionist, and composer.
He
began playing the drums at the age of 9 studying with Mick Berry. He
went on to study at Casa Grande High School with Arlene Burney, a
recipient of the John Philip Sousa Legion of Honor Award. He is
currently attending Sonoma State University as a Jazz Music Education
major.
He has played in the Healdsburg
Jazz Festival in 2017/2018 with his quintet/sextet opening for Lavay
Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers and the Ravi Coltrane Trio. He
won the Sonoma County Student Combo Competition in 2017/2018. He has
played in the Sonoma State Jazz Orchestra, other SSU ensembles, Black
Sheep Brass Band, Dylan Juhan Trio, and Tim Duenas Latin Jazz Trio.
Mario is currently studying with Kendrick Freeman, George Marsh, Doug Leibinger, Kasey Knudsen, and Ken Cook.
