eanie and Chuck’s Country Roundup plays honky tonk and bluegrass music on acoustic instruments, entertaining the audience through music, humor, and showmanship. They specialize in country duets and honky tonk songs, with strong vocals that highlight the rich emotion of classic country music. They perform at festivals, cafes, nightclubs and other music venues around the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as private parties and benefits. They’ve played at the San Francisco Bluegrass and Old Time Festival, and Strictly Bluegrass in Golden Gate Park (before it became “Hardly”).
Jeanie and Chuck Poling have been playing music together since 1982. They perform as a duo or ’round up’ musician friends as the Country Roundup. Jeanie grew up on Long Island and had the accent removed through surgery. She always liked to sing and has been playing guitar since her teens. Chuck is a native of San Francisco’s Mission District who attributes his interest in American roots music to his distaste for bad 1970s pop music. He chose to create his very own foreign exchange program by attending college at the University of Mississippi. His four years at Ole Miss taught him to appreciate the music and paradoxes of Southern culture.
Chuck has been the emcee at the Rooster Stage at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass since 2012 and hosts many local events, bringing wit and wisdom in Western wardrobe.
