Bermudagrass
started as an original project combining Caribbean Rhythms with
Bluegrass instruments. Over time it's morphed into a Tropical Jazz
Combo.
I was living in Santa Cruz CA when I first felt the
influence of different tropical styles of music. Reggae, Ska, Rock
Steady - all of this while I was playing in a Gypsy Jazz group and
studying jazz theory and arranging in school. These new
sounds eventually led me to head down to the Tropics myself, where in
the Leeward Islands I found a wide variety of other styles: Calypso,
Soca, Skiffle, Zouk, Mazouka, Beguine... It all mainfests into something
very rhythmic while articulate, very rhythmic, very fun.
